Sock Loom

Yesterday I made a trip to Joanns with a 50% off coupon in hopes that my tiny Joanns would have Martha Stewarts new Knitting and Weaving Loom Kit, but they don't. But while looking at the looms they did have I noticed a sock loom I have been looking at for awhile. It's adjustable so I would be able to make everyone in the family knit socks, which is great! As much as I love knitting with needles my hands don't agree and it's extremely painful so I am giving it up for good. Knitting looms will allow me to keep knitting though without the pain!

I have been playing with it this morning while enjoying the weather, and I have to say... I love it! It is very easy to use, no pain, and even if you have never knit anything in your life you could do it. So, if you are thinking about loom knitting, I highly recommend it!

Yarn Ball Wreath AKA Knitting Wreath

I saw this idea back in Texas when we made a trip to wonderful Hobby Lobby. The one they had was huge though, probably about two feet across, seriously! I thought it was a great way to use up stash yarn, and lucky me had two colors that go great with my craft area. The display one also had knitting needles in it, but since mine was tiny I chose to destash two crochet hooks. I was smart though and just stuck them in the yarn, no glue at all, so if I need them I can get them out. For the bottom frame I actually took my fruit bowl, an ikea box, a box cutter, and cut around the fruit bowl. Done! I probably should have painted it grey though since you can see part of it, but I think I may just end up adding tiny yarn balls so you can't see it.

Anyway here is the finished product! It's so dark where it is I messed with settings on my camera forever but never got the perfect up close. Till finally I just gave up!

Inspire Me

I have been in a mood the past few days, and I honestly blame it on the weather. "Spring" and "summer" in San Diego are pretty much Fall. It's cold and rainy, we haven't seen over 65 or the sun in days. This is my favorite type of weather, even in June!, so I do love it but it makes me want to do nothing...I hate doing nothing. I am having a constant debate in my head, "I need to crochet...nah..." "I need to finish that cross stitch...nah..." I hate it! You know what I did last night when the kids went to bed? Sat and watched TV, I never do that! If I am sitting my hands are doing something, spinning, crocheting, etc. So I have explored Flickr for inspiration

Nature, colors, finished projects and works in progress all inspire me. Hopefully this will get me do craft today since tomorrow is a day of shopping all by myself :)

Since little Miss Caroline is always taking my crochet hooks to "crochet" I figured I needed extras to have on hand just in case little fingers came. Instead of paying $2 for one hook I turned to E-Bay to find a lot of hooks. I ended up bidding on a set of 40 with a variety of sizes, and they ended up coming with a about 10 different sizes of knitting needles as well...total cost $5! I was just going to turn around and sell the knitting needles, but I think I am going to give knitting a shot. I watched a few videos on YouTube, and it looks super easy! I already love to crochet, so why not?! We shall see if I stick with it or just stick with crocheting.
