Happy B-Day Jase & Phineas + Ferb

Jase turned four years old yesterday, can't believe he will be in kindergarden next year! Wow... They already started him on homework, yes my FOUR year old has homework! Insane, but whatever. Since our kids birthdays are only a month apart we do cakes on their birthdays and presents two weeks in between. No jealousy, fighting, or anything. It always falls on September 3rd but I forgot to take pictures of that...oops! Oh well! I got pictures of him with his cake and our mommy son trip to see Phineas and Ferb live. By the way we didn't think highly of it, it was pretty boring other than Perry. Plus alot of the dancers kept messing up, and they all wore these huge eyes to make them look like the characters. Why they didn't just dress them like them is beyond me. I was only allowed in with my crappy point and shoot so they are not the best since it hates the dark!

Waiting for it to start (look at the chair! NASTY! Poor kid got so much purell on him it's not even funny)

This was the best part of the whole thing, anything Perry was great ("Agent P do you know have like thousands of people sitting behind you? ....weird...")

Happy Birthday Princess

Miss Caroline is 2 years old today, and I can't believe how it flew by! We made a trip to Play town yesterday to see Cinderella, which was a bust. They had fun playing but I'm still having anxiety about the Cinderella crap. (Don't give people dirty looks, they may have anxiety and it will take them days to get over it) Anyway they had fun, and that is all the matters.

My Grandmother's Afghans

My mom's mom crocheted for years, it was her favorite thing, and afghans were her all time favorite. Sadly I never got the true chance to meet her, or my grandfather. She left behind some great crochet things though for my mom, and I was able to grab some photos of them while we were in Texas. She also did doiles galore but my mom didn't find those till we had already left. Once Sloan is retired from the Marine Corps (well whatever branch he is, he is thinking about switching soon), they will go to me, but I was to afraid to have them now with the kids so small.

So I would like to share hr afghans with you. Real quick fun fact though, I am exactly like her, my mom says that everything I do is exactly like her mom. When you see this afghans it looks like something I would make.

P>S> Horrible photos! I had to stand on a chair, it was night and yeah horrible lighting. I tried to edit but then the colors werent true so I said screw it!

This one is done with Broomstick Lace, she did it with a real broomstick but now days people use a jumbo kitting needle. After I saw this I wanted to make it, and funny thing as soon as we got back I had a crochet today magazine waiting for me. Opened it up to find the new technique in it...broomstick lace :)

Texas Trip - Part 1

We are back from our two weeks in Texas, and it was a wonderful trip! The first week was un eventful but that weekend we got to send FOUR whole days kid free in San Antonio! Sloan is going to be gone for our 5th year anniversary so we chose that weekend to be our celebration. We stayed in a hotel that was originally built in the 1800's and there are only 13 rooms. It was an amazing hotel! I only wish we could have stayed longer, and that I would have taken more pictures!!!

Our room, each is named something different but all have something to do with San Antonio

Finished Poncho & Buttons

I finally finished Caroline's Easter poncho with the Easter yarn I dyed and spun. I could have finished it alot quicker than I did since it was such an easy pattern but for some reason I took my time with it. I finished today though, and she does look pretty cute in it if I do say so myself! She is going to wear it tomorrow to Jase to school and to show the ladies at Starbucks (yes the ladies at Starbucks know us by name and have our order for us when we get there, our "town" is super small though compared to surrounding ones so they know all the regulars). She loves wearing it so I'm sure it's going to be a daily thing for my girly girl, she even figured out how to put it on herself this afternoon. I still have about 100 yards left over in Easter, so I may crochet something for Jase, maybe a tie...cute! Yes a tie it is if I can find a pattern on Ravelry. I'm spinning his yarn right now, but no ideas yet on what to crochet with it.
Jase came over right when I snapped a picture, hence the funny look on Caroline's face

Sigh my kids move way to much! You have no idea how many photos i took of them trying to get one decent one!
My kids

Tonight I also randomly chose to make paper covered buttons. As you know I am a craftster addict, and while bored the other day I started watching their YouTube videos. I watched two that interested me, one of which is making fabric buttons and the other using Perler beads. I thought it would be a nice spice into my fabric crafting right now so I'm doing both except I bought cheap paper instead of fabric. The buttons turned out pretty cute, the butterfly one was a pain in the *** though so I only did one of those. My favorite is by far the black and white ones, which why there are so many of them!
Paper Buttons

Now the Perler beads I haven't started yet, but I did do them when I was alot younger. In fact my mom still has all of the ones I made (she kept everything of mine, seriously everything!) They are super easy, and I am probably going to let the kids do them as well, I let them do any craft so why not! If you don't know what they are or want to try them check them out (you can buy them anywhere) Perler Beads

Cold Rainy Days

It's cold and rainy here, I swear the seasons are behind in this state! Spring and summer are cold, fall and winter are hot. It's weird! But I digress... (every time I say that I see Sophia from the Golden Girls in my head) So with kids not being able to play outside they are going crazy. I pulled out all of our craft supplies to see what they wanted to do, and sure enough both wanted to paint. They love mixing the paint, and I got some pretty psychedelic photos with it!

Dont you love my dead flowers? haha They are gone now

Toddler Eating

I have two toddlers that are separate ends of the picky eating scale. Caroline will eat anything you give her, she doesn't care, and will eat all day if i let her. Jase however is extremely picky, and it has gotten worse. A few weeks ago Sloan took two weeks off from work, and Jase was attached at his hip. He doesn't see him much when he works so when he's off Jase doesn't leave his side. Well with that brought on the "eat like daddy" phase. Now before that time with daddy he fought me on eating healthy but I could always win the fight. But now, I'm loosing badly. Getting him to eat is a nightmare, and eating healthy? Forget it! If I let him he would live on corn dogs now, why? Because daddy seems to eat a ton of them when he is here. For the past two weeks I have been fighting Jase to eat something, anything!, healthy. I know he needs it to because he keeps getting sick and can't seem to shake it as quickly as when he eats healthy. But last night I finally got Sloan to see why he is like this.

With Sloan working so much he doesn't see any meal time, he's either at work or asleep, so me simply saying "Jase eats this way because of you" didn't mean much. Don't get me wrong he cared, but enough to change I guess. But last night he was awake and a family meal with us. He saw the fight I put in to get Jase to eat Mac and cheese and chicken breast. No Mac and cheese isn't the healthiest so he should have ate it. At the end of sitting with him for almost an hour waiting for him eat Sloan finally said, I need to change.

Your kids see everything you do, you are their role model, no matter what the age. You need to eat healthy so they want to eat healthy. Caroline and I eat healthy, it's the boys that are the problem. So things are going to change this house now. No more cases of Mountain dew for Sloan (yippee!), no more corn dogs or processed foods of any sort for Jase, but a new mix of food from raw vegan, vegan, vegetarian, but some chicken and turkey thrown into the mix. I've tried no meat before, it doesn't last with me!

What a Wonderful Weekend Part 2 (365 Project)

After our trip I came home to my order of fiber from The Sheep Studio, a whole pound of Superwash to dye! I of course had to let my kids help, so I gave them each 4 oz of it to dye with kool aid, they picked the colors themselves, and all I did was just get everything ready. Jase wasn't in the mood for pictures so none of him, just Caroline.

I also finished my yarn that I have been spinning finally and plyed it with sewing thread. I love it to death and I plan on crocheting something for Caroline with it.

What a Wonderful Weekend Part 1 (365 Project)

Our weekend started on Friday when we took the kids to the San Diego Safari Park, ended up spending all day there! We all agreed that it is much better than the "famous" SD Zoo, but it's sad that not that many people go to it. I wont bore you with all the many pictures I took, but I warn you I will share my fair share! The best part of the whole day was being able to feed birds some nectar, awesome! They come up to you the second you walk in the encloser, two were very fond of me and one thought my head was the best spot ever. The two that stuck with me till Sloan took the camera were adorable because when Sloan asked Caroline for a kiss (she was upset about the bird on my head) one of the birds turned to the other and MUAH! to the other bird so cute!
My all time favorite wild animal (of course tied with otters!)
One view (I took a bunch but I will spare you even though it is beautiful)

365: Day 41 - Toddler Crochet

I finished Jase's beanie and scarf today, he wanted them even though it's never below 50 here! Oh well though he enjoys wearing them, in fact he hasn't taken them off since I finished them this morning!

I know photographing right in front of a window is big no-no but it's the only place I could get him to sit still!! I'm still in shock I got 4 photos out of him!
