Returning to the Blog Months Later!

I love how my last post was about how I was going to have more time to blog for my store and my spinning with me to return months later. I am in my last semester at West Texas A&M, and just found out I am graduating with honors! YAY! But enough about my life, lets talk shop and spinning.

In the spinning world, I just recently received two wonderful alpaca fleeces. Now if you are a spinner you are probably thinking "WOW! Pricey!", but you are wrong friends! Right now a wonderful lady named Sands is trying to clear out last seasons fleeces for the shearing season, so they are $50 each. Yes, you read that right....$50! The fleeces are simply amazing, in fact my dogs are obsessed with them because they are so soft. If you are interested in getting a wonderful fleece check Sands site! You will all so see a certain Mr Peanut Butter

So, what am I going to do with two whole alpaca fleeces? I am processing all of them, spinning it, and crocheting two blankets. One will be a larger one for snuggles on the couch, and the other will be sent my husband during his deployment. My first priority will of course be my husbands, and I will blog about the whole blanket process I am sure!

Also in my spinning world I have been spinning art yarns on my new Babe Bulky Wheel which was a Christmas present to myself. I am enjoying art yarns more so than "regular" yarn, but I am still working on some roving I bought at a fiber festival back in October.

Now onto the shop! What is new with the shop?! I hit 200 sales this month, and I am already well past it. If you have bought a spindle, bowl, or fiber from me...I love you and thank you. I hope you are enjoying using whatever you purchased! Mainly what is new in the shop is..COLOR! I love color and paints but I didn't have many options in my shop for them. I now have many colors added though for you to mix and match, just simply add the option to your cart! I am also adding roving that I have dyed along with some new batts coming soon. Not only did I had color but I added a new spindle, an art yarn spindle! This bad boy weighs in at 3 oz! I have ordered more supplies to make more in other colors along with a plain option, so be on the look out for that.

So, that is all that is new over here at Spinerosity. Make sure to check out the shop for all the new items and updates. Like us on Facebook, follow the blog, and favorite the shop! It all is much appreciated!

Happy Spinning!!

Fiber Overload!

I absolutely love The Sheep Shed Studio
awesome fiber, prices, owners, and shipping! If you are learning to spin, order fiber from them! You can get a pound of mill ends for $8! Practice dying, spinning, felting, whatever! So since i ran out of the pound of superwash I ordered last month I had to order more. This time I went a bit crazy and got 5 whole pounds, but I am good about not ordering fiber until it's all gone. This ended up saving me really, plus it was awesome going through it all!

Back Left to Right: Superwash, white mill ends, black and white mill ends, and cotswold curls (1 pound each)
The front is all dye soppers! So what I am doing with all this? White will be dyed by my Easter dye collection, then hubby is building me a hackle so I can blend whatever I like to make my own pretty roving.

365: Day 36

Last night i turned on Fame (I love that movie) and crafted for hours! I made sooo many pincushions I doubt I will ever need more! But I love making them so much I will probably end up making more. Tonight I'm spinning more yarn, and crocheting stuffies for the kids. I love my craft area soo much!

Even used the felt the kids and i made!

Wet Felting: So easy a Toddler can do it

Yesterday I was in the mood to make my felt with the colorful roving I got off Etsy. After watching a video on YouTube on how to make it I realized it's so easy my kids can help! For my new followers my kids are 3 and 1, so if they can do it any age can do it!

What you need:
Wool roving at least 1/2 oz or more ($1.50 on Etsy or cheaper)
Bubble wrap ($5 or free if you have it like we did!)
Towel (free)
Tulle (the video says you need it, and we did use it because I had some but I thought it was easier without it myself)
Bowl
Warm-to-hot water
Dishsoap (but go for a free and clear, we used Pamolive)
The video shows her using a dog brush to pull apart the wool, there is no need for this, just gently pull the roving and tuffs will come off.

Total Cost: $1.50-$8 depending on what you need to get from the list

And here is our felt this morning after left out over night to dry!

Wool Fiber, can't wait!

So I ordered the roving I wanted to make my own felt, and also a drop spindle to try out spinning my own yarn. I am so excited and can not wait to get them!

The lovely wool rovings I got all from one shop :) This all will be used for felt.  Bought from Baanane Wool Works

And the drop spindle that comes with more roving! YAY! Bought from Spindle Me Right Round

Pincushins, Felt, and Sewing

Miss Caroline and I made a trip to the library this morning, because I was in the mood for a new sewing book for ideas. (I'm really into sewing right now!) I found two that I just love, and already scanned the projects I want to make.

The first book I almost was willing to just buy online, because it has great projects in it. I loved almost every single one! But, in the end just scanned almost the whole book! I do recommend buying though, great beginner book, if you are learning to sew. Majority of the projects in it though use felt, real wool felt not craft felt. Which was interesting because of the other book I got is felt projects. So now I am on the curious side of playing with felt and/or making my own. I have been researching online about both, but it all comes down to price with me. I love crafting but it must be on the cheap side, because I am cheap! (You probably learned that a minute ago when you read that I scan books instead of buying though).

The debate continues I guess until I can either find cheapish roving or wool felt. If you are interested in this as well here are a few sites to check for either of those things:

Etsy of course
Artfire
Zibbet (might be cheaper)
Local Harvest - awesome for ANYTHING organic! Honey, herbs, fruit, nuts, etc. I love this site!
Magic Cabin - aimed for kids crafts but they have wool felt

I hope you join me on this adventure with felt! Have a crafty day!

Pine Cone Christmas Trees

This is such an easy craft to do with toddlers, my kids loved it and it kept them busy for an hour! I think they turned out pretty cute, and I strongly recommend spray glitter! It's awesome! Some ended up crooked because of the bottom of the pine cone, but thats ok :)

November Crafting!

I am not big on Thanksgiving, I do enjoy cooking for it and making my yummy turkey, but I don't decorate or make a fuss about it. I loved it until my Grandfather passed away 5 yrs ago, it was his favorite holiday "It's the only day you can eat a piece of every pie and not be a pig", and he would eat every pie :) So since then I usually either ignore November or I start on Christmas! This year is all about Christmas, even though it was 100 degrees here yesterday...seriously...it was...ugh Anyway I already started working on a few crochet projects:
A Candy Cane throw
This Christmas Tree Pillow: Pillow
Once I am done with those I am going to start on a few felt pillows I found in a Christmas Craft magazine and also a very colorful felt wreath and tree skirt for the toy room.
I am also going to make a crochet Christmas tree!
I'm sure I will find more so no telling how many things I will make especially since school for me ends on Tuesday yay!!! So be on the look out for finished crafts!
